Singapore to Sydney

I have recently returned from a nine day work trip across the world to Singapore and Sydney. I absolutely adore Singapore, it is an amazing city. There is so much to do and see you’re never stuck for things to do. Singaporeans are such lovely people, always so friendly and welcoming. It is such a safe and peaceful city you feel safe walking around alone at anytime of the day which is nice not to be worried about where you can and can’t go and at what time. After the extremely long 13 hour flight over, all the crew were buzzing to finally be there. We decided to celebrate our first night in Singapore with a trip to the Marina Bay Sands hotel, this is the hotel with three huge pillars and a massive boat on top. The building itself is absolutely stunning, every time I see it I’m just amazed at how beautiful and cool it is. It costs an arm and a leg to stay there however if it was a special occasion I’d defo recommend treating yourself, literally everything you need is in there, from a shopping mall to restaurants, bars and clubs. We went to the club right at the top called Ce La Vie, the views of Singapore from up there are so beautiful. Also any fellow airline crew members on Thursday nights its crew night which means you get free entry and 30% off drinks all night. We had a few drinks and a dance and called it a night, ending up in McDonald’s. The McDonald’s in Singapore is the best by far, especially the spicy chicken burger. The following day a few of us went to Sentosa Island for the day. Sentosa is a man made island full of activities such as universal studios, cable cars, indoor skiing and sky diving, there’s lovely beaches and beach clubs too. You’d need at least two days to get to round the entire island. We just had a chilled day by the beach had some lunch, took loads of photos and had a little walk around. In the evening we went to the light show at Gardens by the Bay, its a garden with these huge structures wrapped in flowers and plants. The light show was set to Musical Theatre and the lights go along to the music, it’s really was beautiful. It is on twice every evening at 7:30pm and 8:30pm. For dinner we met up and went to a local Chinese restaurant called Fattys, the food here is so so so good and the amount you order for the price you pay is great. The next day was our flight to Sydney so I didn’t do much other than walk around Raffles City which is a nice shopping centre.

We arrived into Sydney the following morning and we went on a hunt for champagne breakfast by the harbour. We found an outdoor restaurant called the Opera Kitchen. We were too early for the champagne but still had a yummy breakfast with amazing views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, great for those Instagram-able pictures! The food was really nice and really good service, just what we needed after the flight over from Singapore. After breakfast we walked around the harbour towards the Opera House and took a few more photos (for Instagram of course!) We headed back to our hotel to get changed as it was forecast to be super hot that day, 28 degrees for Sydney spring time weather was great, so we planned to go to Bondi Beach. We bought a travel card for $10 and we had unlimited usage for the whole day for $2.50, such a good way to get around rather than in a taxi, much cheaper as well. Bondi beach was beautiful, it was everything I imagined an Aussie beach to look like, stunning blue sea water, soft clear sand and tons of surfers in the sea. The only let down was the weather, I cannot describe the wind down there it was terrible! We were so cold we only stayed about two hours because we just couldn’t handle it any longer! Having not slept since the night before in Singapore I went back to the hotel for a nap. In the evening we went to find the light show by the Opera House, we thought it was this massive light show and when we couldn’t find it we realised it was only on two panels of it so we missed it. It was so nice to see the harbour at night, just as beautiful as it is in daylight. I am literally in awe of the place, it just doesn’t feel real standing there. It’s moments like that I really appreciate how lucky I am to have this job to travel the world and see all theses amazing places.

The following day was back to Singapore again, another long flight and the tiredness was starting to get to everyone just a bit. It’s normally the hardest leg as the passengers are just starting their journey and we are on our third long flight in 5 days. We arrived back into Singapore quite late but we decided to have a crazy night out, we had a few drinks in our hotel and then headed to Orchid Towers, also known as Four Floors of Whores (don’t ask!). There is literally so many levels of different bars and clubs and you literally just walk in any you fancy and party till the morning! It is such as relaxed vibe so you don’t need to dress up too much and you can just have a really enjoyable, care free night out, for quite cheap as well. The next evening (6pm), I woke up with the hangover from hell! My head felt like it was going to explode and it was 6pm in the evening, cannot believe I’d slept the whole day. Nevertheless it was our last night and as we’d all slept the entire day, we thought it would be rude not to go out with another good night out on our last night. Despite the hangovers we went for dinner in Chijmes at Berlin Bar. Chijmes is such a great place for a variety of food and drinks, it opens till about 1am and even later on a weekend, during the day and early evening it has a nice chilled out vibe which is nice. After dinner we headed to One Altitude which is one of the tallest buildings in Singapore and has a club right at the top with the most amazing views of the whole of Singapore, the views are honestly breath taking. Even Marina Bay Sands looks tiny from up there! My fellow airline crew members, they have crew night every night as long as you arrive before midnight. We arrived after midnight and paid $45 for entry and two drinks which I think is quite reasonable. One altitude closes at 2am so we headed back to Orchid Towers to finish off our last night properly. The next day was home time and as we were out all night we all slept in right until about 5/6pm, thankfully there wasn’t a hangover in sight! Singapore is definately one of my top five cities in the world, if you have the chance I would recommend it 100% even if it is just for a couple of nights, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
